Marriage saver!

our Central system gave up last year . We were going to replace it with a used one until I realized that all of the used ones that were compatible with our setup were so old that they were at the end of their lifespans . That's going to cost a lot more to replace the whole system than it was going to cost put in a used one . I was going to catch a charge if I didn't do something about the heat so we decided to get a few of these portable ones save for rewiring the house and replacing the central system . This bad boy is cooling 2/3 of my 1475sqft house pretty well so far. Hasn't gotten much about 90° around here yet this season. If I find it's struggling as temps rise, I guess I'll update this. The box slips off the top easily after the straps and tape around the bottom are cut. Installation was super easy. I used a box cutter to deeply score the window insert and then it broke off clean. You don't need to be skilled at anything to get this up and running. My biggest problem is that the controls are on the top and my cats keep turning it off because you're not supposed to leave anything sitting on it. Control panel could be on the front and that wouldn't happen.

Don’t buy it unless you want the most basic cooling for a tiny room

Compared to our other cooling units, this is clearly not a 16k BTU AC unit. Another reviewer did test this and I missed that review. You can look and see that many people 5* rated a “mini” unit which is nothing like this product. The biggest let down for me is the instruction manual is written very poorly and I had not realized ANY AC unit in this day would not have an “auto” mode that can hold a temperature. This one will only Automatically cool if it hits 78 F. Which is why for the first 2 nights we couldn’t figure out why it was still so warm. The best that you can do is leave it on cool and use the timer function. The person emailing me was very prompt in their response, but it was a let down not realizing that about the product. Should have just gone with a reputable brand like we did for our other units. This seems to function more like a 5k BTU unit. We insulated the tubing and it still isn’t cooling our son’s room down, which is a pretty standard guest room sized room. Anyway, spend the extra $100 and get something from a reputable company you are familiar with.
