You can never have too many plates... when you're a living weapon.
As a living weapon, I've been through years of training, decades of battle, one entire month where I sat next to a komodo dragon observing its style so I could master komodo dragon kung fu, and guess what? It's super hard to have a dinner party! Who has time to pick out dinnerware while fighting the terra cotta samruai on the dimensionally shifted Eiffel tower?
