Gardening will never be as authentic and natural as it was in the Seventies.

Back then, it was cool to just let your stuff grow, man. Just take a look at some of the old horticulture videos from way back when. I’ve still got a few I found under my old man’s mattress and, lemme tell you, all you see are people with big bushy hedges in their gardens, sometimes even spilling out over any fences that might contain them. A trimmed-up shrubbery was quite a rarity in those days, and usually it meant the owner had gone through quite a bad pest infestation.

Of course now, everyone likes to keep their landscaping so neat and tidy. You see them outside all the time, plugging in their Black & Decker Hedge Trimmers and making their bushes all symmetrical or carving some fancy design with the 20” dual action blades and 3/4” cutting capacity. I suppose it’s a lot easier to do so considering you get 40% less vibration out of the Black & Decker Hedge Trimmers than some other trimmers. And that’s fine, I guess. I’m not about to tell someone how their front yard should look. That’s a personal choice, after all.

I dunno. Maybe I’m just getting old, but I just happen to prefer forests to fields. To each their own, I suppose.
