Lesley just wanted to read her new copy of Nahuatl Pǔtōnghuà Magazine in peace, but her upstairs neighbor was vacuuming. Normally, Lesley would understand: a decent person had to have a clean house. And Lesley thought of herself as the forgiving sort, so she would never judge a person who could only clean after their work day was over. But it was happening right over her head, and she was trying to learn about pottery!
Lesley took a deep breath, warmed up her "I will not stand for this" face, and walked out with intent. One floor up she knocked on the door.
And then, the most beautiful man in the world appeared.
Somehow, though they'd never met before, she knew his name. Raoul. Like a whisper in her mind. "I- I just wanted to ask you-" Lesley couldn't finish. But Raoul understood.

Lesley had no answer, she simply couldn't make the words. Raoul nodded.

Back in her apartment, Lesley lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling. It was quiet at last. But she was still too distracted to read.
